Matthias is tall, wide at the shoulder and slimmer at the hip. He stands just under 6' tall, with pale skin more likely to flush a rosy pink in the sun before tanning, bright blue eyes, and dark hair that he keeps cropped short. He has a classically attractive profile, though he's never been much of a ladies' man. He's flirted, yes, and had his share of flings, but nothing too serious.
He's normally found in good, clean clothes. He prefers classic lines and practical fabrics-- he doesn't keep up with the latest fashions by any means. He's only a shopkeeper, after all, and doesn't want to live above his means.

Quirks: Matthias has tendency to not sit still. He's constantly on the move, speaking with his hands as he talks, or jiggling a leg as he's sitting.
Motivations: A thirst for knowledge, and a desire to find his own way in the world. Matthias knows that he'll never inherit, unless something were to happen to both of his brothers, and he certainly doesn't wish for that!
Weaknesses: Tendency toward impatience, stubbornness, jealous streak, too critical (usually self-directed).

General: Matthias is pretty much your average bloke. Sort of. He's generally a nice guy. He's polite, and certainly the type of boy that one might take home to her parents. This isn't to say that he's perfect-- he's got a bit of a temper, slow to rise but once it does, it takes a long time to cool. He loves loves loves to learn-- it isn't often that he's found without a book (and usually more than one). He values knowledge-- not only theory but practical knowledge. One might consider him to be a jack of all trades and master of none-- there are many things that he knows much about and is talented at, but he is no complete expert at any one thing.
He is a romantic, who believes in the power of love. He's charming, yet practical. He's not afraid to go after what he wants, but will generally wait to be sure of himself and what he wants. | personal history;
Matthias was born one early fall morning. He was the third son of Peter and Iris Eklund, and the two certainly couldn't complain. They were never particularly rich, but they did well enough. They were farmers, living not far from Greenville. The Eklund family had always been the head tenants on the Baron Elliston's lands for years.
Matthias had a good childhood, and nothing of particular note. He knew early on that he was never going to inherit, so he threw himself into his studies and daily activities-- he was an avid horseman and he loved his studies-- whatever he attempted, he took very seriously. He began to take on odd jobs for the Baron at the age of 16, errands or mail or whatnot, and by the age of 20, the Baron's wife approached him with a job offer. Her brother owned a shop in Greenville, and she thought that Matthias would be able to help him.
Intrigued, Matthias accepted and at the age of 20, moved from his parents' home and found himself in Greenville, where he's been living for the last two years. It was quite the adjustment from the quiet little village he grew up in, but he's done well. Mr Thane, his boss, seems to like him enough, and he's never caused any trouble. They got along very well, with Matthias learning the older gentleman's business and craft until Mr Thane passed away a year ago. Much to Matt's surprise, Mr Thane left the shop to him. | ooc;
